School Governance Equity Council

School Governance Councils were created by CT Public Act 10-111 to enable parents, school staff, students, and community leaders to work together to improve student achievement. School Governance Councils serve in an advisory capacity and are charged with assisting the school administration in making programmatic and operational changes to improve the school’s achievement.

Our West Woods School Governance Equity Council will carry out the principles in the HPS Diversity statement through a commitment to identify areas of need and opportunities for improvement around equity at WWS, in line with our mission statement: "Equity means increasing opportunities for everyone to live and grow into their best life possible. We are accountable for existing bias, prejudice, discrimination, and privilege and how these things impact our community. We will move each other forward with, and for, the power to be our best selves.”
